Day 6

Day 6 Monday 27th of January

Today we edited some of our thriller opening. I used adobe after effect to help edit one of our scenes to look like CCTV footage. This proved to be difficult so i watched YouTube tutorial to help do so. Below are some screen shots of this. Without the tutorial this aspect of our film would not be possible. Why doing this Andrew started to put together our ident idea.

Day 2 Monday 13 January

Day 2

Today we planned to film but did not have the time or the props. So we spent the time finding the props that we will need to film Friday. Below is an image of these prints. They include the calendar we shall need, the images of the meeting, newspaper articles of past terrorism events, name tags and images of the symbolic tattoo.

Day 1 Tuesday 17th December

Day one of filming

Today was our first day of filming. We filmed most of the scenes on our shooting schedule however we decided to do the scenes of Tariq walking at a later date. We filmed the scenes of Andrew and Mohibur meeting in a run down area behind a shop. We feel this location helped to add to the feeling of secrecy. We filmed close ups of both Andrew and Mohiburs hand so we were able to see the symbol that is key to our movie. We only encountered a few minor problems. This was the presence of people during filming and angles, however we were able to overcome this. Whilst filming we decided to add in an extra 2 shots. We filmed a sequence of both Mohibur and Andrew meeting from a distance behing barriers we also zoomed in whilst doing so and the camera work is shaky. This is to convey someone spying on the 2 meeting taking their own photos. These photos will appear on the desk of the private detective.

Props

Props for scenes

When filming the scenes of Tariq-The investigators, at work we must make it look like a realistic setting. Therefore we have found some articles to do with past Terrorism attacks as well as made up articles of a 'predicted' attack. Also we are going to take photos of Mohibur and Andrew-The 2 'strange' men meeting from an angle that looks as if they have been spied on. Tis will all appear in Tariqs office. We aim to have it looking something like this:

On the desk there will also be a calendar. These are the sort of articles we aim to use:

Prop list for investigation scenes:
  • 'Tariq' name plaque
  • News paper articles
  • Articles of predicted terror plot
  • Maybe a threatening letter? (made from cut up magazines)
  • 'Mug' shots
  • Calendar
  • Brief case
  • A photo of the significant tattoo

Research into title sequence

Research into title sequence
Before chosing our titles and creating them I will analyse a title sequence. When creating our titles we will use a website called the art of titles, we may also use ribbet or dafont to chose our fonts. Below are some screen shots of titles with different fonts. We will need to chose a font that fits to our story.
Godfather:
The godfather is a movie about the mafia and has elements of thrill.
These titles are in a font that has a very sharp and kind of sophisticated edge. This shows the levels of power within the film as well as class. The film has a rich feel to it and is very sharp therefore this use of font makes sense.
The Peace Maker
The peace maker is a film about terrorisn, similar to ours and so looking at their title font would be helpful. I could not find the video of the sequence however I have found a poster with the title written in a font. The font used is again very simple. I feel this kind of font was chosen as it conveys the seriousnes of the movie and the situation. Terrorim is not a topic taken lightly. I feel this kind of font would fit best to our movie.
Psycho:
Psycho is a Hitchcock psychological thriller. Psycho's title sequence is very effective. The music as well as the tranistions creating a fast pace thrilling effect/ The font used is again rather block, plain and simple. I feel once again the best font for our movie would be very basic and simple due to the seriousness of the topic.
I would not like to have our title sequence appear in a Thrilling font like the one below as I feel it takes away from the proffessional look we want to aim for.

Certification

Certification

Certification acts as a from of protection/censor and appears on films, games and music. It is the age limit that is placed upon a media and is created by what is deemed appropriate. The British Board of film Classification (BBFC) is the main board of classification for media content and aims to censor media appropriately. The BBFc was set up in 1912 by the film industry as an independent body to bring a degree of classification nationally. Power over film remains with the local council regardless as to whether the BBFC rejects or passes a film. They can decide as to whether the movie is to be shown in cinemas or not they can also pass films the BBFC have rejected and alter the classification for example from a Pg to a 12. Below is the link to the official BBFC website with more information.

http://www.bbfc.co.uk/

When creating our opening we will have to think about the classification and certification we would like it to have. Is it age appropriate for a 12 or should it be a 15 if not higher? This is a very serious decision.
